Tattoo Studio

Your artist, start to finish.

Resident artists working in realism, color realism, surrealism, esthetics, and permanent makeup. Every artist keeps their own books, so the person you message is the person who does the work.

Each artist books separately. Choose an artist to see how they take work.

The experience

Your own room.

Every artist works in a private room with its own TV. Sessions run long, and a long one is easier when it is just you and your artist — not a row of chairs and an audience.

  • Private room per artist Not an open floor
  • TV in every room
  • Guest lounge For whoever comes with you
  • Snacks & beverages While you wait
  • Free WiFi
  • Free parking

Healing

Taking care of new work.

Your artist will talk you through this before you leave. If what they tell you is different from what is here, follow them — they know your skin and the piece they just made.

  1. Leave the bandage alone at first Give it at least an hour. Take it off within five.
  2. Wash it with warm water and your hands Use a mild liquid soap with no scent. No washcloths, no scrubbing.
  3. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel Bath towels hold bacteria and catch on fresh work.
  4. Put on a thin layer of unscented lotion Thin is the whole point. If it looks shiny or wet, you used too much and the skin cannot breathe.
  5. Repeat two or three times a day Keep it up for about two weeks. Clean skin heals; that is most of the job.
  6. Let it peel and flake on its own Do not pick or scratch. Pulling a scab early pulls the ink out with it.
  7. Stay out of water and sun while it heals No pools, hot tubs, or long soaks. Keep it covered outside, and use sunscreen on it forever after.

If your artist used a second-skin film

Some artists here finish with a clear adhesive film such as Derm Shield. It stays on for days and does most of the work for you, so the washing routine above does not apply while it is on. Your artist will tell you how long to leave it and how to take it off. A little fluid collecting under the film is normal.

Redness and swelling for a day or two is normal. If you see spreading heat, pus, or a fever, that is not healing — call your doctor.

My dog recently passed at 16 years old and I wanted to get a portrait of him tattooed. When I found Matt Brown on instagram, I knew he was the perfect artist for the job. Matt is one of the best black and gray artists in the country, and his work speaks for itself. The portrait came out amazing as expected, and the whole experience was perfect. Their new shop in Londonderry is amazing! Every detail of the shop was meticulously designed. They also have a barber shop where I had my beard trimmed; top notch service and quality as well. If you’re looking for the most talented artists and highest quality experience, Blvck Rose is the only choice!

There are so many talented artists at Black Rose Collective! I got to work with Anna Freitas on a chickadee bird piece for my shoulder, and LOVE how it came out! It was a great overall experience. We met and discussed the idea I had before even booking the appointment. When meeting for the tattoo itself, we reviewed the design - made some tweaks, and were able to finish it all in one day. Would highly recommend working with Anna! She’s an exceptional artist, very professional, and the location is clean and very thoughtfully setup.

I got a chance to be tattooed by Anna today and she was awesome! I messaged her a couple of months asking for a lighting tattoo for my back. When I came in I gave her an idea of what I wanted and just let her creativity run with it and I couldn’t be happier. And she was just genuinely the nicest person and so fun to talk to while I was there. Highly recommended.

Matt Brown and his team are some of the most talented artists in the area. But what I enjoy most is the friendly environment and culture that the Black Rose team has. After being tattooed by Matt a number of times I started bringing my 2 year old son to the barbershop to get a haircut. Derek is great with him, its quickly become my son’s favorite place to be!

Ive been tattooed extensively by the owner Matt Brown. I cannot stress enough how kind, talented and comforting this individual is. Whether you are a seasoned tattoo meat slab or a first timer, this man will make you feel at ease and will provide you with the finest service money can buy you in the northeast portion of the United States. The fact that this dude and this shop spits pure New England is just an added bonus. I intend to return to have a full back piece completed in the future and highly recommend this first class establishment to anyone and everyone. Yet to get a cut there but for the love of god give them your money. Top notch tattoo experience. Do not be fooled by imitators or haters.
